Veracity People — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 14 August 2026 Last updated: 14 August 2026

This policy explains how Veracity People handles your personal information across both our website (veracitypeople.com) and our mobile app. At present the app provides the Emotional Awareness feature and does not perform facial recognition or biometric identity verification; if we introduce such a feature we will update this policy first.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and to handling your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and, for New Zealand users, the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) under the Privacy Act 2020. Because we handle information about your emotional wellbeing — which we treat as sensitive (health) information — we apply the higher standard the law requires for that information.

1. Who we are

Veracity People (“we”, “us”, “our”) 1/18 Crystal Reef Drive, Coombabah, QLD 4216,
(ABN) 75 196 364 531 Australia
contact@veracitypeople.com

2. Scope

This policy applies to personal information we collect through our website and our mobile app.

3. Who can use our services

Our services are intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

4. Information we collect through the app, and why

We collect personal information directly from you. We only collect what we reasonably need to provide and secure the Service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Consent for sensitive information: your emotional wellbeing entries are sensitive information under the Privacy Act. We collect and hold them only with your consent, given by your choosing to use the Emotional Awareness feature, and only to provide that feature to you. You can withdraw consent by ceasing to use the feature and/or deleting your account.

About your device biometric: if you use your phone’s fingerprint or face unlock to sign in or confirm sensitive actions (such as deleting your account), that check is performed entirely by your device’s operating system. We never receive, see, or store your fingerprint or face data — the app only receives a yes/no result from your device.

5. Information we collect through the website

When you visit or interact with veracitypeople.com, we may collect:

  • Information you submit through forms (for example, a name and email address you provide via a contact or sign-up form).

  • Technical and usage data such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected automatically in server logs to operate and secure the site.

  • Cookies — the site may use cookies for basic functionality and, if enabled, analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Google analytics is used on the web site, but NOT with the app.

6. Emotional wellbeing data (sensitive information)

The Emotional Awareness feature lets you record check-ins and reflections about how you are feeling. Because this can reveal information about your mental or emotional state, we treat it as sensitive information and apply extra protection.

  • We collect it only with your consent and only to provide the feature to you. It is your private content.

  • It is encrypted, and it is not shared with other users or third parties.

  • It is deleted when you delete your account (Section 8).

7. Disclosure, service providers, and overseas recipients

We do not sell your data or share it for others’ independent use. We use a small number of service providers who process data only on our instructions:

Provider

What they process

Where

Twilio

Your mobile number, to deliver SMS verification codes

United States

Apple / Google

Purchase and subscription validation for app-store billing

Per the respective app store

Some of these providers are overseas, so using them involves a cross-border disclosure of personal information (for example, your mobile number is disclosed to the United States for SMS delivery). Before disclosing personal information overseas we take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law.

8. Retention and deletion

You can delete your app account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete account). Deletion is confirmed with your device biometric and is immediate and irreversible. It removes your profile, devices, security credentials, and all Emotional Awareness entries.

The only information we retain after deletion is what the law requires us to keep: purchase records and the contact details attached to them are retained for up to seven years as transaction records, then anonymised. Everything else is deleted.

We keep other information (such as website enquiries) only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as the law requires, after which we destroy or de-identify it.

9. Marketing communications

We will only send you marketing or promotional messages if you have consented to receive them. Every such message identifies us and includes a way to opt out (unsubscribe), consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Transactional messages needed to run your account — such as SMS verification codes — are not marketing and are sent as part of providing the Service. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time by using the unsubscribe option or contacting us.

10. Security

We protect your information with measures including: encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS); encryption of sensitive stored content (including your wellbeing entries); per-device security credentials held in a dedicated secrets system; and access controls on our infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps appropriate to the sensitivity of the data.

11. Data breaches

If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will assess it and notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act (and comply with the equivalent obligations to the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner for affected NZ users).

12. Your rights

You can access the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. You can delete your app account and its data at any time (Section 8). To make a request, contact contact@veracitypeople.com; we will respond within a reasonable time, and in most cases will not charge you. If we cannot give you access or make a correction, we will explain why.

13. Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at contact@veracitypeople.com so we can investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to:

  • Australia: the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) — oaic.gov.au

  • New Zealand: the Office of the Privacy Commissioner — privacy.org.nz

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or on the website.
